Matt Kuchar once again found himself poised in contention at the RBC Heritage on a Sunday. After four weekends in prime position and unable to convert for the win, Kuchar was nothing short of ecstatic after claiming the title in such an elaborate fashion.
Coming down the 18th with a 2nd shot bunker bound, Kucher needed a Par to force a play-off on the windy at the Harbour Town Golf Links. Instead he managed a short, high flop out of the bunker to hole-out on the 18th, scoring a birdie on the card and the title.
Kuchar finished the RBC just one shot ahead of England’s Luke Donald, who battled heavy winds and a few unsettled moments which ultimately cost him on heavily Sunday. Donald’s final round score was a respectable 69 and tournament score of -10.
“KUUUUUUUUCHHH” is clearly a fan favourite and has shown tenacity over the passed few weeks, keeping himself in contention with consistency and level-headedness. Most say this is the winning recipe for the FedEx Cup and Kuchar is definitely one to keep a watchful eye on for the rest of the season. Even though it is early in the season to call, he’s our favourite too.
